Grand Canyon Star Party June 10 - June 17 2023

The Kaibab Plateau is one of the few remaining areas of truly dark skies in the lower 48 statse. We have been holding a yearly star party here for more than 10 years. The public stays locally at the Kaibab Lodge and the adjacent DeMotte Campground. This year the dates of the Grand Canyon Star Party are June 10 – June 17.

At the Kaibab Lodge and DeMotte Campground we usually have a small but dedicated group of amateur astronomers with their excellent telescopes, who will enjoy teaching you about the night sky. Because of the time of year, serious viewing starts around 9:30PM, and at 8000 ft elevation it can get cold – which also makes for excellent star viewing due to the less atmospheric contamination. If you come prepared for winter type coldness, you will not be disappointed with what you will see and learn. We will have nightly basic astronomy talks from 7-8 PM in the lounge at the Kaibab Lodge.

Additionally, just a few miles down the road from us at the North Rim Grand Canyon Lodge additional speaking engagements, lectures, and telescopes will be taking place as well.
