About The Kaibab Lodge

In 2021 the Kaibab Lodge came under new ownership. We have ambitious plans to expand the resort by adding ten new cabins over the next few years. Some of these cabins have already been built, and others are on the way!

We have upgraded the Wi-Fi access. Now guests can enjoy high-speed internet access over Starlink, which is needed at this remote location! In addition, the TransCanyon Shuttle service conveniently stops at the Kaibab Lodge throughout the day, which helps many of our guests get to where they need to be.

We are excited to be part of this resort and call this beautiful paradise at the edge of the meadow our home. And, we look forward to welcoming you to our resort. We want to make your travel easy and comfortable so you can enjoy the Grand Canyon and all its wonders.

The Kaibab Lodge is the nearest lodge outside the north entrance of Grand Canyon National Park. Situated in the North Kaibab National Forest, the Kaibab Lodge is only five miles from the entrance of the Park.

President Theodore Roosevelt created the Grand Canyon Game Preserve in 1906. The game preserve which includes 612,736 acres (2,479.65 km2) of the Kaibab National Forest, is “set aside for the protection of game animals and birds,” and is “to be recognized as a breeding place therefore.”

For those wanting to be as close as possible to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the Kaibab Lodge is indeed the perfect option for lodging outside the north entrance of the park.

A combination of different cabin sizes are available to guests including a single room, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom cabins. The cabins can sleep two to eight people. All come with a private bathroom. Many of the cabins also have a mini-fridge, microwave, sitting area, and a porch/balcony. Pet-friendly and accessible rooms are available upon request.

Since the lodge is in a secluded, remote location, there are no televisions or phones in the rooms. There is currently no cell phone coverage in the entire region. To solve this issue for guests, we have installed Starlink at the property. This ensures guests can still access the outside world.

Many guests enjoy Kaibab as a base camp for their Grand Canyon adventure.

When not relaxing in their cabins or walking the grounds, guests enjoy the amenities of the main lodge with the on-site restaurant, gift shop, lounge, and old stone fireplace.

With the high elevation, summers at Kaibab Lodge are mild and delightful. The setting of the Kaibab Lodge can best be described as serene as it sits at the edge of the meadow with abundant pine and aspen populating the grounds.

Wildlife common to this area include white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk, pronghorn, wild turkey, and coyote. Cougar, bobcat, and black bear are seen less frequently. Bison also live in the forest and national park.

At almost 9,000 feet, the road into the Grand Canyon closes in the winter. Currently, the Kaibab Lodge is open from May 15 to November 15, at which time the road into the park can be accessed.
