  • Can I use your Rim-to-Rim and Trailhead shuttle services if we are not staying at the Kaibab Lodge?

Absolutely! The shuttle service is provided by TransCanyon Shuttle (our sister company) and is available to the general public. You can book a shuttle directly by clicking the link here.

  • How do I get to the Kaibab Lodge?

The Kaibab Lodge is located about 25 miles south of Jacob Lake, Arizona, on Highway 67, which is also known as the Grand Canyon Highway. This is the road most people take to get to our lodge. However, the proximity of the Arizona National Scenic Trail  means we also have guests who walk in on foot. Others shuttle into the lodge from the TransCanyon Shuttle service at the south or north rim of the Grand Canyon.

  • When is the Kaibab Lodge open?

The Kaibab Lodge and the entire North Rim area of the Grand Canyon is open seasonally. The National Park Service opens the gate (on Highway 67) to the Grand Canyon’s north rim on May 15. The gate has traditionally closed on October 15, but in 2024 the gate remained open until the end of November. For 2025, the Kaibab Lodge plans to be open May 15 – November 15, weather permitting. If you plan to travel in late October or early November, please make sure to check the regional weather for your travel dates.

  • Is cellular service, Wi-Fi, or internet access available at the Kaibab Lodge?

The nearest cell towers are at Jacob Lake, so once you are out of range of those cell towers, you will have no cell service.

At the Kaibab Lodge, we are connected to Starlink, so guests can access the outside world in several ways:

    • Use Starlink for making Wi-Fi calls. Most cell phones have this ability, so if you are unfamiliar with using Wi-Fi to make phone calls, as your cell phone provider to show you how.
    • Use Starlink to access the internet. This system is fairly quick and speeds are improving all the time. We do not promise that it will be available in all our cabins but it is available at the lodge. We are looking to extend the coverage to the property for the 2025 season. We do not guarantee you can stream video and other very high bandwidth services but the system is usually sufficient for emails, internet, and voice calls.

There is limited cellular service as you ascend out of the Canyon from the North Kaibab Trailhead. Additionally, limited cell service is also available near the North Rim Visitor’s Center. At both locations, once you are out of the line-of-sight of the Grand Canyon itself, cell phone service ends quickly.

  • Are refrigerators, microwaves, and kitchenettes available in the cabins?

Our new cabins have kitchenettes. For cabins without kitchenettes, snack food and meals can be obtained in the main lobby and restaurant.

  • Where is the nearest gas station?

The nearest gas station is across the street from the Kaibab Lodge.

  • Do you have chargers for electric vehicles?

At this time there are no electric vehicle charging stations.

  • Do the cabins have air conditioners and heaters?

All cabins have heaters, but air conditioners are not needed  because the elevation of nearly 9,000 feel means that our summer temperatures remain moderate, while evening temperatures cool down significantly.

  • Do you offer a shuttle to the North Kaibab Trailhead?

Of course! With shuttles leaving throughout the day, you’re sure to find a shuttle that works with your schedule. Please visit the TransCanyon website for up-to-date shuttle schedules. For up-to-the-minute updates on weather conditions impacting shuttles, please follow TransCanyon Shuttle on Facebook.

  • Is the Demotte Campground associated with the Kaibab Lodge?

Kaibab Lodge, while not associated with the Demotte Campground, does welcome campers to our Copper Cup restaurant and lounge for a hot cooked meal or a drink. Campers at Demotte will find a nice walking trail between the properties, and it only takes a few minutes to walk over.

  • How far in advance do I need to make a reservation?

To ensure availability and secure your preferred dates and accommodations, it is generally recommended to make reservations for the Grand Canyon well in advance. Making reservations almost 1 year in advance can be necessary to ensure lodging on your selected days.

  • Are reservations required for dinner?

No. We’d love to have you!
